REGISTERED CANADIAN CHARITY

GIVING FROM CANADA

Heart for Africa (Canada) is a registered Canadian charity bringing HOPE to the Kingdom of Eswatini - Hunger, Orphans, Poverty and Education. Your gift is made in Canadian dollars. Your tax receipt comes from us.

We Started Here

Heart for Africa didn’t come to Canada. It started in Canada.

In 2006, Ian and Janine Maxwell founded Heart for Africa (Canada) and led their first mission trips to Swaziland – now Eswatini – South Africa, Malawi and Kenya. In 2009 we purchased the land that became Project Canaan. Two decades later,in 2026, we’re marking 20 years of HOPE.

Canadian donors, churches, schools and businesses have carried this work from the very beginning – including longstanding partnerships with Egg Farmers of Canadaand Rotary International.

When you give from Canada, you’re givingto the Canadian charity where this mission began.

THE QUESTION EVERY CANADIAN DONOR ASKS

YOUR TAX RECEIPT, EXPLAINED

Every eligible gift to Heart for Africa (Canada) is receipted for Canadian tax purposes, and every receipt is emailed to you automatically.

One Time Gifts

Your official donation receipt is emailed immediately, as soon as your gift is processed.

Monthly

When you set up a recurring gift, you decide how you would like to be receipted. You may choose to have your receipt emailed to you each month.

Yearly

When you set up a recurring gift, you decide how you would like to be receipted. You may choose to receive one cumulative receipt at the end of the year summarizing all of your giving for that tax year.

Whichever way you choose, your receipt arrives in your inbox automatically. No forms, no phone calls, no waiting on the post.

WHAT YOUR RECEIPT IS WORTH TO YOU

An official donation receipt from a registered Canadian charity lets you claim the charitable donation tax credit on your return – a non-refundable credit against tax payable, at both the federal and provincial level. What it’s actually worth depends on your income, your province, and how much you’ve given in the year.

We're a charity, not a tax firm. For anything specific to your circumstances, please speak with your own tax advisor.

Ways Canadians Can Give

Legacy Giving -

A gift in your will can care for children long after you are gone.

Child Sponsorship

Give hope. Sponsor a child. Change a life.

There are over 200,000 orphaned and vulnerable children in Eswatini. At Project Canaan, we receive a new baby every 11 days on average. Over 450 children now call it home, cared for by a staff of more than 130 caregivers.

Sponsorship provides a stable home, loving caregivers, nourishing meals, medical care and a Christ-centred community – for one child, for as long as they need it.

$360/MONTH

– full sponsorship in Canadian dollars

A monthly gift of any amount helps. Sponsorship is receipted automatically – monthly or annually, whichever you choose.

GET INVOLVED

Giving is one way in. It isn't the only one.

Nothing here at the moment?

That just means we’re between events – there’s always something you can do: container and supply collections, church partnerships, school drives, fundraisers, golf tournaments, and volunteering closer to home
