June 7, 2025 – June 17, 2025

Registration will be open soon!

What we'll be doing

Participants will spend the majority of the week on Project Canaan, starting with a complete tour of Project Canaan, our 2500-acre fully operational farm and children’s home. Each year additional buildings and initiatives are incorporated, and both new and return participants will experience an up-close look at the growth that has occurred.

We plan to host Camp Canaan with our older children. You will also have the opportunity to serve a local homestead in the community to deliver food, clothing and spend time with the family. One day will be spent participating in a feeding program at one of our rural church partners and we will visit a local game drive another day.

Shopping & Local Travels

The Khutsala™ Artisan shop on Project Canaan will be open multiple times throughout the week, and participants will be able to stock up on our beautiful Khutsala and Kufundza products. Our jewelry, Christmas ornaments, charcuterie boards, and many other home items are all handmade on site, providing employment for our neighbouring communities, which allows them to in turn provide for their families (an average of 7 people in each household). All profits are used to further our mission of self-sustainability and to provide care for more than 400 children living on Project Canaan. These make great gifts or souvenirs, and each purchase truly makes an impact!

Schedules

Each participant is encouraged to maintain a group mindset throughout the trip. We want to ensure that everyone has a great experience, and we prepare based on what is best for the group. As Project Canaan grows, specifically the children’s campus, we must make modifications that will best serve those on and off the property, as well as provide consistency and structure for the schedule our staff works so diligently to create. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to improve your trip experience!

Travel Details & Trip Cost

All participants must comply with international travel restrictions and with the operational requirements mandated by Project Canaan.

Heart for Africa requires a background check through Protect My Ministry for all adults aged 18 and over. A link to complete this will be provided upon the completion of trip registration.

The trip cost will include the ground costs of $(TBD) PLUS the airline ticket cost if you are booking your ticket through Heart for Africa. The total trip cost below reflects round trip airfare from Atlanta to Johannesburg. For flights through another city, please contact our Trip Coordinator, Tricia Ford, at tricia@heartforafrica.org for costs.

If making your travel arrangements through Heart for Africa, you will depart Canada on June 7th, 2025 and arrive in Johannesburg, South Africa on June 8th. At the conclusion of the trip, you will depart South Africa June 16th, 2025 and arrive in Canada on June 17th, 2025.

*Please note:  The cost with airfare is based on our blocked seating rate with the airline. Participants must register with air and meet the $(TBD) funding deadline by the determined date (TBD) in order to get the blocked seating rate.  For registrations after this date, we will book individual tickets at the regular published fare at that time. If we do not have ten people register with airfare by the date determined, we cannot keep our block and will need to book individual tickets. Please note, your total trip cost may change according to airline rates at that time.

Self Bookers
