What we'll be doing: Preparing for Christmas!
Participants will spend the majority of their week on Project Canaan. You will kick off your experience with a complete tour of Project Canaan: our 2500-acre fully operational farm and children’s home. Each year additional buildings and initiatives are incorporated, and new visitors as well as return visitors get to experience an up-close look at the growth that has occurred. You will be hosted by our local managers at each location and get to hear some of their stories along the way.
We plan to spend this week preparing for Christmas celebrations and continuing some traditions we have created over the years. You may be asked to decorate, wrap gifts, or lead/assist with a pre-planned activity. The team will also visit a local homestead to deliver food and clothing and encourage the family who is living there. One day will be spent participating in a children’s feeding program at one of our rural church partners delivering and serving food and playing with the children they serve. You may also have the opportunity to serve in other capacities as needed on Project Canaan. One day will be spent at local game drive. We will be in close communication with all travelers and give frequent updates as we update our itinerary, so you are well prepared, and well informed!
shopping and local travels
The Khutsala™ Artisans shop on Project Canaan will be open multiple times throughout the week, and participants will be able to stock up on our beautiful Khutsala™ and Kufundza products. Our jewelry, Christmas ornaments, charcuterie boards, and many other items are all handmade on site, providing employment for our neighbouring communities. On average, each employee can provide for 7 people at home. All profits are used to further our mission of self-sustainability and to provide care for the 430+ children living on Project Canaan. These make great gifts or souvenirs, and each purchase truly makes an impact!
You will also embark on a safari game drive at Hlane Royal National Park where you’ll get to see beautiful African animals right in front of you!

schedules
Each participant is encouraged to maintain a group mindset throughout the trip. We want to ensure that everyone has a great experience, and we prepare based on what is best for the group. As Project Canaan grows, specifically the children’s campus, we must make modifications that will best serve those on and off the property, as well as provide consistency and structure for the schedule our staff works so diligently to create. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to improve your trip experience!
